okay, i was just talking to my bro, stephen, and i was reminded of a grrreat story that i forgot to post back when we were in st louis. i can't believe i forgot about this! i probably just tried to block it out of my memory! bwahaha!!

so anyways, amy is a pretty huge josh kelley fan also...she introduced me to his tunes back in the day, and i've been hooked ever since. so not long after we arrived in st louey, we were in Border's and saw a poster that said that josh kelley was going to be there for a mini-concert in a few days! whoohoo! so, of course, we made plans to go!!

so we get there and there were tons of peeps there...so we just stood around and listened...it was really good! i leaned over to matt and said, "i don't know what that is on josh kelley's belt buckle, but i really like it!" (it looked cool from a distance)
well, matt and i went up to the table after the mini-concert to get the cds signed...while we were standing there, the keyboard player goes, "hey, i really like your belt buckle!" and the bass player said, "yeah, that's cool!" - they were both really nice. josh kelley was busy signing autographs so i'll leave it to that as to why he wasn't very talkative..haha! so i said, "thanks! yeah, i noticed your's (i pointed to josh) earlier and i really like it too!" (i felt like such a dork saying that, but i didn't really know what to say! hahaha!) well, he lifts up his shirt and says, "you wanna play doctor!?" i must've looked like somebody slapped me in the face! it seemed like years before i mustered up enough guts to look down to see what he was referring to...well, it was, of course, his belt buckle! that's what it said: "YOU WANNA PLAY DOCTOR??"!! Blahahahahahahaha!!! i said, "ummmmm, he, he,...ahem...uhhhh...noooooooo...." as i grabbed matt's arm...he had been so busy talking to the bass player that he didn't hear any of that!! i couldn't believe it!! so we started walking off and here was the conversation...

carla: OMIGOSH! i can't believe that!!
matt: what?!
carla: did you not hear the whole belt buckle thing?!??
matt: why is your face all red?!?
carla: are you kidding?! did you not hear any of that?!"
matt: hear what!??!?!
carla: hear josh kelley asked me if i wanted to play doctor??!?!?!
matt: WHAT?!?!?!

and on went the conversation!! BLAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! i have never been so mortified!!! hahahahaha!!

but regardless, he still has great tunes...so check him out! hahaha!

scout and i spent the day yesterday in rock hill. matt had to work. :(
mom, holly, and the girls came up and spent the night, so we all hung out with kim, jerry, and colton. it was so great getting to spend some time with them. kim cooked lunch and dinner...she's a regular wolfgang puck...haha!

:: yummm...pf chang's!

we went to pf changs last night...yummmmm!! the first and only time i have been to a pf chang's was in chicago last summer with chris and chris at the HOW conference. it was soooo good! chris t recommended the lettuce wraps, and oh my word, they were wonderful! we ordered them last night too...and i got the coconut curry tofu again! yumm! and matt got the honey chicken, i think is what it was called...it was good too!! yum! scout had her moo goo gai enfamil while we were waiting for our table...she said it was yummy too! haha!

hippo time yesterday brought about some excitement! she got her foot hung in the "crab" and the "fun bar" popped off as it sometimes does...but instead of scaring her, she thought it was so funny! she just laughed! haha!

so things are going well here! we had a little brunch today with jamie and her friend, kristen. so that was fun! i'm not sure what is on the agenda for tonight. mom, holly, and the girls arrive tomorrow, so i'll be heading to rock hill to see them! whee!

things are going very well here in c-town...haha! we were able to move to a suite yesterday morning, so it's nice to have the extra room for scout to sleep in. she's been having herself a grand ol' time! haha! here are some pics...

all dressed up and no place to go? haha! we headed out for church sunday morning...gave ourselves an hour to get there, because it was on the other side of town. but we ended up not making it after the directions led us down a road that ended...ugh!


after what was supposed to be church, but ended up being target (haha), we went to jamie and danny's for a cookout. it was the first time we had seen will (now 9 mos. old), and the first time jamie and danny had seen scout! so it was quite the reunion! haha! scout was mesmorized by reilly! haha!

on our trip to target, we got scout her long-overdue "surfboard tummy time mat"! lindsay got it for her when she was born. someone else gave her one to. so i took lindsay's back because it had the gift reciept. well, when i went to open the one we kept, it had been used...someone had obviously taken it back to the store and then target reshelved it. so we took it back, and then forgot to pick another one out while we were there. i get very distracted in target...haha! so we finally got her another one, and she really loves it!! thanks, lindsay!!! you'll have to come over and go surfing! HAHA!


last night we went out to eat with jerry, kim, and colton. and like i sometimes do, i took my camera and forgot to take any pictures...ugh! but we'll see them again on thursday! mom, holly, and the girls are coming up, so we'll all get back together then! whee!

:: on the road again...

well, here we are in charlotte! this past week was a whirlwind...matt got a call from his consultant on wednesday night and he wanted to know if matt wanted to do a 2 week interim stint in charlotte. it's always good to say "yes" to these things, so we decided to take it. on thursday, we found out we would need leave friday night...have mercy! haha! we were supposed to be in a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen and the works, but apparently, all of charlotte is booked up because of the big race on sunday, so about 5 minutes before we leave, matt informs me that we are in a regular hotel room. hmmmmm...i debated on just staying home after looking at the rediculous amount of "stuff" i had ready to pack into the car. it's amazing how much stuff a baby requires. matt says that we've turned into the kind of parents we said we'd never be. the kind that take everything imaginable on trips with them. but, it's funny how you realize that all of that stuff is, not necessarily "needed", but WILL make the trip more enjoyable for everyone. haha! so, even though this isn't a roomy suite, it is an usually large room with a fridge and microwave, so we will live. scout has everything she needs even if we don't. haha!

so, it's nice to get away. i have lots of things i need to get done, and it will be easier to get them done here than it will be at home where distractions are many. i have been meaning to mention one little life changing event that occurred a few weeks back... i resigned from upward. :( it was a decision i made with mixed emotions. i will miss everyone there so much, but i am so thankful that i will be able to stay at home with scout. i will be working from home, doing freelance work, and launching Fuzzy Bison full force. yeah, that website isn't working quite yet, but stay tuned. that's one of my projects while i'm here in charlotte...and george is going to help me out with it! wheee! thanks, george! :)

these next 2 weeks will also be kind of like a mini-vacation! my aunt (jerry) and cousin (kim) and family live in rock hill, and my homegirl (jamie) and family live in fort mill, so it will be great to see them! whee! and then mom and holly are coming up next wednesday to hang, so that will be fun-fun! and lindsay is coming to charlotte for a writing class (is that right, lindsay?), or something like that...i can't remember. so hopefully, we'll hook up at some point too! whee!

well, it is so late, and i need to get in the bed. scout went to bed at 11:00, so she won't be wanting to sleep in as late as i will...haha!

today is my 29th birthday! eeeek! HAHA! and today is stephen's 32nd bday! wowsie!! we are sure getting old!

scout's been sleeping through the night for about a month now...but last night was a RECORD! she slept from about 10:30pm (AFTER american idol, of course...haha) until 9:00 this morning, and i had to wake her up! HAHA!

here she was right before i woke her up. i don't think i would have wanted to wake up either if i was THAT relaxed! HAHA!


monday night we went to kaylee's softball game and scout wore her "big girl" outfit...hahaha! she was so sleepy and didn't even make it home before she was sacked out!

...the library could be so adventurous and...DANGEROUS!! HAHA!

scout and i went to walmart yesterday to get those monthly walmart necessities. that, in itself, was an adventure. there's just a different breed of people that hang out at walmart, i must say. and i will not say anymore. haha!
from walmart, we ran by the library to drop off some books that, of course, were overdue. so as i'm putting the books in the "depository", i hear a bang. i look, and this lady has backed into the element. well, she proceeds to drive off...stop...then continue to go on. so i ran out there and told her to stop...haha! i inspected the element's right front bumper, and there was just a little black rubber from her car that rubbed right off with my finger. i noticed our fog light that was busted out on the way back from st louey, was still busted out, because we'd forgotten to get it fixed...haha! i made a mental note of that, told the lady to go ahead, that it was all good, and got back into the car. well, as i'm getting back in the car, i notice that there is blood all over my hand and on my jeans...it's just dripping every where. what the heck??? i knew right off that i must've hit the glass that was broken on the fog light with my finger. so i'm sitting there, and there is blood just pouring out everywhere. i reach for one of scout's wipes, but that is just not going to do. this is a job for a diaper...haha! so i use that to hold me over until i get to holly and stephen's house which is just about 2 min away. holly fixes me up after about passing out from seeing all the blood..she doesn't deal well with blood...haha! but she got me fixed up and on my way. i didn't know if i needed stitches or not. i'd never gotten stitches before, so i didn't know how deep was deep. haha! it looked deep, but i didn't know. when matt got home, he said it was deeper than he was expecting it to be, so he emailed a picture to russ (he's a paramedic and an expert on all things detrimental to the body...haha) and russ said that it can't have stitches because of the location. so i was relieved to know i didn't haul it off to the doctor for no reason. haha! he said just clean it, put some neosporin on it, and a band-aid. wheee! thanks, russ!! :)

so, if you ever cut the tip of your finger, don't go to the dr. save yourself the money of a useless visit! HAHA!

:: flippin' sweet weekend

this past weekend was a lot of fun! scout and i started off friday at Upward for a cookout to benefit Relay for Life. i forgot to take pics at the cookout, but here's a picture of the billboard on 85 that i've been meaning to snag a shot of.


from there, we came home, ate lunch, then went to carey and jack's (aunt and uncle) for a visit. they were so glad to see scout, since they hadn't seen her in a while.


friday night, we went to eat at applebee's with mom, dad, kaylee and sunny. stephen and holly went out for their 9th anniversary, so mom and dad were keeping the girls for the night. after applebee's, we went to cold stone creamery. yuuummy!!





when we got back from eating, matt and scout decided to give me my mother's day present early since it had come that day from the UPS man. i love it! now i can't wait to go hiking with little bug! HAHA! she's gotta get those neck muscles worked up a bit more before we try that though! haha!



saturday morning, scout discovered a more "big girl" seat for watchin' the boob tube...



saturday night, matt had to work, so scout and i went over to mom and dad's for a "mini-bonfire" to roast marshmallows...haha! scout just chilled out in her camp chair. (thanks, karen! she loves it!!) we had a great time! holly gave stephen an ipod for his anniversary present...not sure where he scored the barbie from. hmmmmm. hahahaha!





happy mother's day! sunday morning, we all went to church with mom. it was kinda neat going back to southside and seeing a lot of faces i hadn't seen in a while. scout wore her "duck ensemble" for the first time...rick and marie (matt's aunt and uncle) got it for her when she was born. it was soooo cute!!


after church, we all headed down to the lake house to meet up with all of the carter's and wright's. (matt's dad's and mom's side o' the family) it was a lot of fun! scout was a bit fussy...i think she was a little overwhelmed with all of the people. she'd never seen that many peeps before...haha! but then, after she got use to the crowd, mommy (being myself...haha) ran out of diapers fo the child, so she had another problem on her hands! haha! holly and i ran to the gas station to get some diapers that looked like they had been sitting there since 1982. but they were better than what she had on...a recycled tinkle diaper to hold her over until we got back...since she DID have a poop! UGH! so, we got that issue under control. 8:00pm rolls around before i realize it...yes...feeding time. hmmmmm...i seem to have only brought enough formula for 2 feedings. i thought we would be on our way home around 7:00. oh my! the poor child had to drink a litte H2O to hold her over until we got home. she was NOT a happy camper. but the minute we got in the car, she was out like a light and slept the whole way home. NOTE TO SELF: pack a whole can of formula and whole pack of diapers regardless if i'm going to be gone for 8 minutes or 8 hours...HAHAHAHA!! soooo, i guess you could say my first mother's day made me feel like a real crappy mother. hahahaha!
